The Kronicles of Kirby

Happy New Year!!  It's hard to believe that 2011 has ended and we are embarking on a new year filled with unforeseen adventures and activities.  I am hopeful and optimistic that 2012 will be a great year filled with wonderful memories to last me a lifetime.  This past year will be one that I will never forget as it will be remembered as the year with the moment of my greatest elation, yet also the moment with my greatest heartbreak.  So here's to the new year ... may it be a wonderful and exciting year for us all.

I hope that everyone had a great Christmas and got to spend time with family, friends and loved ones.  I also hope Santa was good to you, even for the ones of you who have been naughty this year.  This holiday season was especially wonderful for me.  I got to spend time with my family and friends and enjoy the spirit of the season.  It was touching to be surrounded by the people that mean the most to me and realize just how blessed I am to have them in my life.  Their love and friendship were truly the greatest gifts to me this holiday.  However, my new iPad was pretty high on the list too.

December was a bit of a hectic and trying month for me, as it seems that I have been battling a severe head and chest cold for most of the month.  I got to travel to Memphis, TN for the annual retreat and orientation weekend with Larry and Terry.  Even though I could barely hear for the first 5 hours, from my ears being about to burst from the flight, I can say that the weekend turned out to be one that I will never forget.  It was such a pleasure getting to know these gentlemen on a more personal level and experiencing firsthand the passion and love that they have for the Miss Gay America Pageant.  Also, I was forewarned by some of my previous MGA sisters to arrive with a hearty appetite.  I must tell you that was an understatement!!!  Aside from being fed every 10 minutes, I received my Miss Gay America Handbook and had a chance to sit down and go over several rules and regulations and other important information.  We also took time to choose my official MGA photos for this year.  One already appears on the website.  Make sure to stay tuned for the others.  I also was fortunate enough to be able to watch videos of past Miss Gay America Pageants from years that I had only heard about.  Seeing such great icons who paved the way for so many of us, made me realize how rich in history this system is and also how humbling it is to now be a part of this sisterhood.

Also while in Tennessee, I had the pleasure of being the special guest at the Miss Blues City America pageant.  It is a city preliminary to Miss Gay TN America, and the promoters Mike Divoky and Rodney Brown were an absolute joy to work with.  They went out of their way to make sure I was well taken care of and had a great time.  I got to spend time with my sister, Miss Gay TN Pat McCooter and see her in action as the administrator at her first prelim.  I must say she did an excellent job and it made me proud to be a part of the night.

Iris Le'Fluer walked away as the winner.  Best of luck to him as he prepares for Miss Gay Tennessee.

The week before Christmas, I was invited to be the guest entertainer at the Scorpio Christmas party in Charlotte.  A big thank you to Tiffany Storm for being such a gracious host and including me in the festivities.  I got to spend time with the reigning Miss Gay NC Jessica Raynes Starr, plus getting to see two of my MGA sisters, Kerri Nichols and Luscious.  A great time was had by all.

As we shift gears and move forward with the upcoming pageant season, I want to encourage all of you potential contestants to plan early and get the ball rolling on ideas for your packages.  Preparation is key to a successful showing, and will make the difference in securing a spot, or not, to Miss Gay America 2013.  It was this time last year, that I sat down and decided I would reenter the pageant arena, and look where I wound up!!  Just a  bit of advice for you. I also suggest to promoters to start planning and looking over dates for your pageants.  I am excited and enthusiastic about working with each of you.

In closing, I want to say that I know that many of us make resolutions for the new year.  And most of the time, we try for awhile and wind up not sticking to them.  So this year, I want to urge each of you to make the resolution of just being a nicer person to others and treating everyone as your equal.  You'll be surprised at how much richer and rewarding your life will be.  I wish you all a very happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!!

Much love,
Miss Gay America 2012 Kirby Kolby

From the desk of Larry & Terry

Happy 2012! It seems like only yesterday that we were wishing you a Happy 2011. And as Miss Gay America 2011 Coti Collins can attest, the year passes by much too quickly. Miss Gay America 2012 Kirby Kolby is already witnessing first hand that time flies quickly as she is already 2 1/2 months into a busy reign… and the official business has not even begun. This is the very reason why we begin stressing from the very beginning of the competition journey, that you must “be it before you become it”… and because time passes so quickly, one should be ready to be Miss Gay America and grow into the role, with little molding relative to the growth of the female illusion. Granted, each Miss Gay America that has reigned, certainly has a better defined and enhanced look than when they first won, but it is our continued hope that the judges continue to select the candidate who is ready to be schooled and molded into being a great and effective Miss Gay America. Miss Gay America 2012 Kirby Kolby is doing just that… she is busily preparing for the preliminary pageant season including going through continued orientation to ensure that she is ready to be a great administrator at the many preliminary pageants.  We very much enjoyed our time spent with Kirby during the Retreat weekend in early December. We always enjoy getting to know the personalities of each newly crowned Miss Gay America,  as well showing them the many Miss Gay America pageant videos all the while enjoying plenty of meals together. The weekend with Kirby was a great one and we think that he left Memphis, much more knowledgeable and one step closer to being ready to function as Miss Gay Gay America, when the preliminary pageant season begins on Friday, March 09, 2012 in Memphis, Tennessee beginning with the Miss Mid America 2012 pageant. We have selected the official promotional photos of Miss Gay America 2012 Kirby Kolby. They are beautiful and are in production at this moment. The promotional photos speak one thousand words and we pride ourselves in the promotional photos of the Miss Gay America titleholders that have reigned during the L & T Entertainment administration. This year is no exception. We are anxious to receive the printed copy so that we can begin distribution. We are hopeful that the photos will be available for distribution not later than January 15, 2012. And if that is not excitement enough, the Miss Gay America 2012 pageant video is now available for purchase (please contact Larryandterry@missgayamerica.com for more information. Needless to say, there is much excitement in the Miss Gay America pageant system, despite the negative and unfounded rumors…. L & T Entertainment continues to be committed to the Miss Gay America pageant system in making the reign of Miss Gay America, the best year of her life, all the while enhancing the franchise value in the Miss Gay America brand.  We so look forward to observing Kirby Kolby as she has a very successful and fantastic  year as the reigning Miss Gay America. Kirby is off to a great start and we look forward to yet another incredible year in pageantry.

For those contestants who did not score as well as you would have hoped during the most recent pageant season, we strongly advise that you make your selection, NOW, as far as which preliminary pageant that you would like to enter. And then, begin to make your preparations NOW.  Remember, winning Miss Gay America is possible for anyone, but everyone must plan and carefully choose a competition package that is specifically designed to individualize the contestant and showcase her beauty, both inside and out. Then, to find the perfect blend of talent and beauty that will be attractive to the judges.  Remember that the most successful contestants began their journey with a well defined plan and an open mind to be willing to alter their plan as needed, based on constructive criticism.

All this to say that we look forward to yet another incredible pageant season. The country is still talking about the quality of the Miss Gay America 2012 pageant season for which we credit the contestants in wanting something so badly that they give their best effort and time so as to achieve the title of their dreams. As we continue to emphasize, winning Miss Gay America can be the greatest year of your life,  but one must first live by the standards of the Miss Gay America pageant system, as those very standards are the cornerstone of what is needed to be a quality entertainer that will be recognized by a quality fan base that will appreciate and generously reward. So as we say good-bye to calendar year 2011, we once again thank Miss Gay America 2011 Coti Collins for such an exceptional reign. We thank you, Coti for continuing to set the bar high whereby your future sisters would want to emulate such a dynamic reign and also be called as “one of the best of the best”… To Miss Gay America 2012 Kirby Kolby, we wish you the very best year of your life filled with great memories. then, at the conclusion of your reign, we hope that you can look back on your year and feel good about the contribution you made to the pageant system. We look forward to working with you!

We wish each of you’re a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year and we look forward to seeing you at many of the preliminaries during the Miss Gay Ameica 2013 pageant season.

Until next time....

 Larry and Terry
